Continuation of the experience gained in the 2010-2012 two-year period, RRM – Restorers and Restorations in the Museum<\/strong>,<\/em> thanks to the participation of six museums of the town of Milan, offered to visitors and tourists. a greater understanding of the work of art, retracing, in front of the work itself, its conservation history through the most ancient restoration interventions up to the present day. In consideration of the great Italian tradition of studies on the history of restoration, it is believed that this patrimony of knowledge, carefully reworked and adapted to modern communication, can represent a tool to generate a new attraction towards the works of art conserved in the museums. Through specific multimedia installations, IT tools, training of guides, publications and communication materials, the project has offered to the general public, Italian and foreign, a real and new critical knowledge.<\/p>\n

The RRM – Restorers and Restorations in Museum<\/em> project intends to bring attention back to those aspects of a work of art that are usually not very accessible to the general public: its conservation history and the main actors of the restoration interventions that have it interested in time. The conservation of cultural heritage is one of the primary responsibilities to which the museum dedicates economic, human and technological resources and of which the visitor is not always aware.<\/p>\n

The knowledge of the conservative history of the works of art, of their material and technical characteristics, of the degradations, of the different attributions and of any changes of subject (often discovered during restoration interventions), will allow a more correct perception of the works, through their path through history.<\/p>\n

The great participation and the positive reaction from the public led to two considerations: on the one hand, the existence of a great interest on the part of visitors, Italian and foreign, towards a new approach to works of art and the consequent need to satisfy this desire through specific insights; on the other hand, the need to conduct investigations and research on the conservation story of the works to fully illustrate the nature of the restorations that involved them.<\/p>\n
