Focused on the problems of the maintenance of historic buildings, the Conference dealt through close examination of the management and the various methodological problems of a very significant sample of buildings: the historic residences that were formerly royal residences and those still belonging to and used by royal families in the various countries of Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Norway, Holland, Spain and Sweden and some significant Italian cases such as the Quirinale, the royal palaces of Naples, Caserta, Turin and Monza).<\/p>\n
The conference aimed to present different experiences in the field of protection and maintenance of the architectural heritage, comparing very distant realities from the historical-geographical, technical, economic and cultural point of view, but related to the common matrix of a culture and practice of care and maintenance.<\/p>\n
The reference to the Royal Houses was also intended as an opportunity to propose a problem that involves many historic homes and as a pretext to grasp the almost forgotten ‘domestic’ and daily dimension of maintenance.<\/p>\n
