 Protection and promotion of cultural heritage

and development of eco-tourism activities in the Siwa Oasis

The project SHALI, promoted by a partnership made of the Italian NGOs Ricerca e Cooperazione and COSPE, and with the technical support of the Associazione Giovanni Secco Suardo, contributed to improve the capacity of the the Siwa local institutions and community to manage and enhance the value of their territory, promoting sustainable development and creating working opportunities for the local population. The project achieved its objectives working on three strategic areas:

Protection of the archaeological, architectural and historic area of Siwa

Development of eco-tourism activities

Improvement of the local handicraft production and support to its marketing
