On Saturday 12 October the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane inaugurates the third edition of the national event “Carte in dimora. Archivi e Biblioteche: storie tra passato e futuro”.
Lurano Castle, headquarters of our association, joins the event and invites you to visit the historical archive of the Secco Suardo family and the archives of the ASRI project.

On the occasion of the day, it will be possible to visit the historical archive of the family and the dozens of archives of Italian restorers preserved in the National Historical Archive of Italian Restorers (ASRI) that the Associazione Giovanni Secco Suardo directs and coordinates, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Lombardy Region.
The Secco Suardo historical archive, one of the richest private collections in Lombardy and a fundamental source for the history of the city and territory of Bergamo, covers over seven centuries of history (from about the middle of the 13th to the whole of the 20th century). It contains documentary series relating to heraldry with documents proving imperial titles (by Louis the Bavarian in 1330 and by Emperor Rudolf II in 1584) and feudal investitures, but also papers of a private nature (wills, inventories, deeds of divisions, protections, dowries etc.), administrative and legal documentation, correspondence relating to various members of the family, literary, poetic and theatrical studies and compositions, testifying to the high cultural level of its members. Furthermore, a very rich collection of parchments and a substantial photographic collection are preserved, which testifies to the history, travels, studies and daily life of the family, through portraits of its members, friends or frequenters of the castle of Lurano.
