Conserved Archives

The National Historical Archive and Database of Italian Restorers (ASRI) has among its main objectives that of avoiding the dispersion and dismemberment of the archives of Italian restorers and other figures of Italian restoration, thus safeguarding the documentary heritage constituted by the historical-biographical archives of Italian restorers and making them a real tool of studies and research.

Within ASRI the Association is responsible for:

identify, acquire, inventory, digitise, preserve in original or duplicate the funds, the documentary collections and any other elements useful to the history of the restoration, managing the information collected through contemporary technologies and international descriptive standards;
search for archival sources for the history of Italian restoration at conservation institutes and to ensure their filing in order to produce a future thematic guide divided by regions.

The archival heritage of ASRI is composed of the archives of the restorer Count Giovanni Secco Suardo and the private archives of Italian restorers and other protagonists of the restoration received as a donation.
