Project A.H.A.C – Architectural Heritage and Crafts. A conservation programme for craftmen
European Project 1996-1999

In consideration of the importance of the conservation and restoration of historical monuments and our cultural heritage, there is an increasing need for competent and highly specialized workforce. The A.H.A.C. has developed “Professional and Pedagogical Guidelines” for the specialized workers of architectural restoration sites. The specific purpose was to qualify the training path of these operators, through the creation of a European network of transnational cooperation and the creation of test courses.

In compliance with the ICOMOS Guidelines (ICOMOS-Guidelines on Education and Training in the Conservation of Monuments, Ensembles and Sites), the “Professional and Pedagogical Guidelines AHAC” want to be a tool to develop training strategies for “architectural heritage craft persons” in Europe, offering a contribution for the continuous training of the artisans of this sector.
